On a large codebase the report prompt could then be bigger than the model can read, and the model read only part of it: in the case that found this, about a third. The report was written from what it read.
That step is now told the window size and fits the findings to it. When a single merged set of findings is still too large, it is shortened only as far as the window needs, with a note at the cut, and the report says so. It is no longer sent back to the model to be merged with nothing, which cost model calls and did not make it smaller.
