Ghost Open™ 12 is free for one person

Until now, Ghost Open™ was a sample. You got a few deep reports, then a paywall. We have taken the paywall out. If you are one person reading a codebase you did not write, the whole tool is yours.

What is free

Every mode, unlimited:

Question, Chat, Recon, Points of Interest, Blast Radius™, Conflict Detection™, Prompt Triage™, Inheritance Audit, Ghost Brief™, Executive Brief, Commit Forecast™, Fix Forecast.

• Unlimited. No saved-report quota, no forecast quota, no tier gates.
• The full context cap. Every scan gets 200,000 tokens, the highest cap any former tier had.
• Your own Anthropic key. Your code goes from your machine to Anthropic's API and nowhere else. The only cost is the model usage you already control, and Ghost prints it after every scan.
• No license key. Nothing to activate, nothing to renew, no trial watermark on your PDFs.

Install it with one line, then run ghost from any directory:

What moved to Ghost Architect™ Local, and why

Ghost Open™ is for one person. Anything that needs more than one person, or a server to share it, belongs in the product we built for teams. That is Ghost Architect™ Local:

• Teams, roles and projects, with project labels, history and the Project Dashboard.
• Ghost Partner™ profiles and white label. Your method, your name and your rates on the report. Ghost Open™ reports always carry Ghost Architect™ branding.
• Every-commit checks. The Ghost Triple Crown™ on a pre-push hook, Ghost Watcher™ Local on a webhook from your own git server, or your own CI runner.
• Your own model on your own hardware. No API key, no per-token bill, and nothing leaves the building.

Team sync and publishing to Ghost Portal™ are removed from the Ghost Open™ package rather than switched off, so the free package carries only what one person uses.

The license, in plain words

Ghost Open™ is source-available under the Business Source License 1.1. Its Additional Use Grant lets one person use it in production free of charge, on their own machines, for their own work or for their employer's or clients' work. An organization running it as a shared, multi-user or hosted deployment needs a commercial license. Four years after each version's release, that version converts to the GNU General Public License v3.0.

Already running an older version?

Run npm update -g ghost-architect-open. The license commands are gone, so there is nothing to activate. Your saved settings and your API key stay where they are.
